The information in this paper comes mainly from the Human Resource Capability (HRC) survey, which gathers anonymous unit-record data on staff1 in Public Service departments. This year, disability data was removed from the survey's scope, as recommended by the 2005 Disability Data Review. Disability data for the Public Service will be reported in the 2007 HRC paper, based on Statistics New Zealand's post 2006 census disability data survey and previous surveys.
Data from Statistics New Zealand's labour market surveys is also used to allow comparisons with the labour force as a whole.
1 The survey includes all permanent and temporary employees but does not include employees who work on a casual or as-required basis.
