15 Most Public Service staff (94%) are employed full time,4 as are most of the staff of the selected State sector organisations (86%). These proportions have remained relatively constant over the past four years in the Public Service and declined slightly in the selected State sector organisations (see Figure 3). Part time positions form a considerably higher proportion of all jobs in the labour force5 as a whole (24%) than they do in either the Public Service (6%) or the selected State sector organisations (14%).
16 Women comprise the majority of part time workers in both groups (Public Service: 86%, selected State sector organisations: 87%). In the labour force as a whole, women fill 73% of all part time positions.
