One hundred years of New Zealand's Public Service
A short history marking 100 years of the enactment of the Public Service Act 1912.
In 2012, it was 100 years since the enactment of the Public Service Act 1912 and the set-up of New Zealand's Public Service Commission (PSC) – now referred to as the State Services Commission (SSC).
We celebrated this milestone by commissioning a brief video and creating a centenary souvenir publication, New Zealand and public service history since 1913. You can view the video and publication as well as a short introduction on our 100 Years of Public Service page, or view the video or publication directly using these links:
- SSC video – Leading a State sector New Zealand is proud of since 1913: developed by videographer Fraser Rudman, produced by SSC.
- SSC booklet – 100 Years of Public Service: an historical account (1 MB, PDF), prepared by historian and writer Redmer Yska in consultation with SSC.
