What value does the code of conduct add?

The code of conduct ( sets out the behaviour expected of everyone working in the State Services.  This means that staff know their obligations and what is required of them.  Because the code of conduct incorporates standards, it gives staff a basis from which to make judgment calls in situations that may be ambiguous or difficult.

The code of conduct gives a unifying sense of values across the State Services, building a shared commitment and sense of trust across agencies with widely varying functions.
